Q: Can I see the proposed schedule for my event?
A: Yes! We provide a Proposed Schedule for each event. Please note that the schedule is subject to change based on total entries and other factors. If you’d like a copy, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to share the most up-to-date version.

Q: Can Jump Dance Challenge advise me on which section my dancer should enter?
A: Section placement is best decided by your dance teacher, as they know the routine, music and style. Once your teacher determines the most suitable section, let us know and we can update your entry if needed.

Q: What is the Rising Star Solo (First Year Competing) section?
A: Rising Star is an optional section available to all solo age groups for dancers in their first year of competing. It allows dancers to gain experience and confidence.

  • Dancers receive a Rising Star custom medal and critique only (no score or placing).

  • Any style can be entered.

  • Dancers may perform the same routine again in the standard solo section.

For example, a dancer can enter a Jazz routine in both Rising Star and the Jazz Solo section. This section is not compulsory.

Q: Can my dancer enter both their normal solo section and the First Year Competing section?
A: Yes! They may enter the same routine in both sections and the routine must be repeated in each.

Q: Can I add the First Year Competing section after already entering another section?
A: Absolutely. We can keep your dancer in their current section or add First Year Competing for an additional fee. Just contact us to arrange.

Q: I entered the wrong section (Star / All Star). Can I update it?
A: Yes. If you realise your dancer should be in a different section, contact us and we’ll update your entry. You can then log in to your account to confirm the changes.

Q: Who can participate in Group Improvisation and how does it work?
A: Any competitor attending the event is welcome to join Group Improvisation - there’s no entry fee. Simply collect an improvisation number from the Jump staff side stage.
All dancers perform together and judges use an elimination process to select three finalists. Those finalists then compete in a second round, where they are placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Q: What is the Solo Championship Dancer section and how do I qualify?
A: This is one of our most prestigious events, offered across all age groups!
To qualify, competitors must place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in any solo section with a score of 85 or above. If you qualify, simply register at the front desk 10 minutes before the Championship section and pay the $60 entry fee.

Q: Can I enter more than one routine in the Championship section?
A: No. Each competitor may only enter once, using the routine they qualified with. If you qualify multiple dances, you’ll need to choose just one to compete.

Q: How do award presentations work?
A: Awards are presented on stage during scheduled sessions. Competitors may stay in costume or wear their studio uniform, but casual clothing should not be worn for presentations.

Q: What is the refund policy?
A: All events are non-refundable. Entries not paid by the deadline will be removed and any partial payments already made are forfeited.

Q: Can I transfer my entry due to injury?
A: Injury-based transfers can be arranged if you notify us at least two weeks before the event and provide proof of injury. If we’re unable to transfer the entry, a 50% credit note may be offered if your spot can be filled from the waitlist.

Q: What if I’m sick on the day of the event?
A: Unfortunately, illness on the day of the event does not qualify for transfers or credit notes.

Q: How early should dancers arrive before performing?
A: We recommend arriving at least one hour before your scheduled time. Events can run up to an hour ahead, so please check the live schedule regularly for updates.

Q: Are parents allowed backstage or in the change rooms?
A: Yes. For soloists, parents may accompany their dancer backstage or into change rooms.
For group-only events, a maximum of three teachers or parents - who hold appropriate Working With Children clearance - may accompany the group backstage.

Q: How can I view or purchase photos and videos from the event?
A: Jump may partner with an external photography/videography company. Details on how to view or purchase media will be shared during or shortly after the event.

Q: Are knee pads or tights compulsory?
A: No, they’re not compulsory and there’s no point deduction for not wearing them. However, we do recommend them for comfort and safety.
